On Friday, August 9, 2002, over fifty Taylor Guitar Forum members converged on 1980 Gillespie Way in El Cajon, California for a weekend of Taylor Guitars hospitality. Many thanks go to Bob Taylor, who invited the Forum members to come to San Diego for the weekend and was actively involved in the whole event, to Jonathan Forstot and the PR department, who planned and made the weekend a reality, and to the others at Taylor who voluntarily came out on Saturday to help with the day's activities.About fifteen minutes before registration, some Taylor employees wheeled out the goody bags to the registration area. Included were two TaylorStock T-shirts, the TGF CD, Taylor pin, TaylorStock Guitar Specials list, soundhole coasters, and safety goggles (for the tour).
After registering and while waiting for lunch, everyone started mingling. All were grateful that TGF handles were included on name tags, but by the end of the weekend real names were being used as comfortably as TGF handles. After TaylorStock was over, it almost seemed strange to be conversing by computer again. Of course, topics of interest included guitars, especially the ones people were planning to order, as well as hopes for the weekend; in particular, getting to play the Fall Limiteds.
During lunch and dinner, musical entertainment was provided by Nathan James, a local acoustic blues guitarist. Lunch had a barbeque theme while dinner was Mexican. This was a great opportunity to meet Factory workers as well as fellow TGFers.
